STD Testing & Treatment

Also known as sexually transmitted infections, sexually transmitted diseases, STDs are a problem that many people suffer from on a regular basis. The main issue is that people do not seek treatment for these conditions due to embarrassment or having to wait several weeks to see a primary care physician. That is where we come in.

We can help identify the STD, recommend treatment and ensure the patient receives the proper care without an appointment. As an urgent care facility, we are here to help you receive the treatment you need when you need it. There is no reason to wait when it comes to treating an STD.

We have flexible hours and do not require an appointment ahead of time, so visit us right away. See Us at the First Sign of Symptoms

Part of the difficulty with STDs is that they do not always have obvious symptoms that are apparent right away. Even if the symptoms are not at their worst state possible, people should not sit around and avoid treatment. Symptoms of STDs that people need to watch out for include:

  • Lower abdominal pain
  • Discharge from the penis or vagina with a strong unnatural odor
  • Pain or burning sensation when urinating
  • Sores or bumps on the genitals
  • Sores or bumps on the oral or rectal areas of the body
  • Pain during sex
  • Unusual vaginal bleeding

Since there are different types of STDs, the symptoms in patients may vary. Even before seeing us, the patient can take steps to prevent spreading this condition if they are aware of it. If the patient recognizes the symptoms, then he or she must abstain from being sexually active until after treating the issue.

We will conduct tests for the various types of STD, by examining symptoms while also possibly conducting blood tests, taking urine samples and taking fluid samples. Once we identify the type of STD, we will recommend treatment.

Treatment

Seeking urgent treatment for an STD is not nearly as difficult as some people believe. Since we do not require calling ahead of time and have flexible hours in comparison to primary care physicians, we can help patients receive care right away. Most STDs are treatable with prescription antibiotics and medication.

The only real problem is that some people will not seek treatment or believe that there is a store-bought solution on shelves. While medications in stores can help relieve symptoms of STDs, they will not be able to treat the entire condition. With antibiotics, it is possible to treat infections such as:

  • Gonorrhea
  • Chlamydia
  • Syphilis
  • Trichomoniasis

Fortunately, a single dose of antibiotics can sometimes be all it takes to cure the STD. However, this varies greatly dependent on the patient’s overall health, type of STD and other factors. With most forms of antibiotics, the patient needs to follow through on the treatment completely. Whatever treatment you begin, you must finish per our instructions.

Another benefit of being an urgent care facility is that we are available at times when other practices are not. If you have any questions about your treatment or need to see us immediately, feel free to stop by our urgent care or call us. We are here to help you.
