5 Types of Minor Illness Treatment Available in an Emergency Room

Minor Illness Treatment New Caney, TX

As a freestanding emergency department and full-service emergency room, we provide minor illness treatment for children and adults. Getting treatment from an emergency room is often faster and easier than going to your regular doctor’s office. Plus, you do not have to make an appointment. You can come in, get your treatment, and then be on your way.

Common types of minor illness treatment

In our emergency room, we can diagnose and treat various illnesses. Instead of waiting several days or weeks for an available appointment at a doctor's office, our emergency room does not require appointments and will see you as soon as possible. There are five common illnesses that we tend to help treat and relieve symptoms regularly. These conditions include:

1.Colds

There is no cure for the common cold, but that does not mean people have to suffer through the symptoms. Symptoms like runny and stuffy noses, coughs, congestion, and sore throats are common with colds. These symptoms make it challenging to engage in daily activities. An emergency room can prescribe medications to lessen the severity of the symptoms.

2.Mild to moderate influenza

It is normal to feel miserable with the flu. The virus can cause fever, cough, sore throat, muscle aches, chills, headaches, fatigue, and a runny or stuffy nose. Treating the symptoms at the onset shortens the illness’s duration. An emergency room can provide antiviral medications to attack the virus. The right medication can shorten the duration of the flu by one to two days.

3.Pink eye

Conjunctivitis, better known as pink eye, causes inflammation and redness on the inner portion of the eyelid and the whites of the eyes. Pink eye can be bacterial or viral, and both are contagious. Antibiotics treat bacterial pink eye. Viral pink eye does not respond to antibiotics, but a doctor can help patients with symptom relief.

4.Urinary tract infections

Urinary tract infections begin when bacteria enter the urinary tract. Pain and burning are common symptoms of urinary tract infections. If left untreated, the infections can cause blood or kidney infections. A doctor in an emergency room can prescribe antibiotics to treat the infection. The antibiotics kill the bacteria, eliminating the infection.

5.Strep throat

Strep throat is a bacterial infection that causes some uncomfortable symptoms. Symptoms include fevers of 101.9 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, sore and scratchy throats, trouble swallowing, swollen lymph nodes, and fatigue. White spots also appear on the back of the throat with this illness. While strep throat feels like a severe condition, it responds to minor illness treatment in an emergency room. Doctors prescribe antibiotics to kill the virus.

Receive minor illness treatment

Colds, mild to moderate influenzas, pink eye, urinary tract infections, and strep throat might be minor illnesses. Still, they feel severe when you are infected. Instead of trying to make it through the day with your symptoms, receive minor illness treatment in an emergency room. We can help to treat some minor illnesses with medication. Others do not respond to medication, but your doctor can still manage your symptoms. Stop by a clinic so you can begin to get relief.
